On Monday 24th October, we held a successful Peer Group session at The FEED’s Waterloo Café in Norwich between 2pm and 4pm, which was hosted by our project partners Voluntary Norfolk.

Former long-term unemployed participants shared their triumphant stories back into work with current members on the project, discussing the support they received and how the guidance and skills they learned from their Employment Co-Ordinators continue to help them on a regular basis.

Tasty food and drinks were provided throughout the afternoon as current ongoing participants also got to ask questions and in turn received helpful advice on the do’s and don’ts of what to do when searching for employment, education or training.

One participant who attended the session said “I applied for Norfolk Community College because I knew I needed extra support to get back into work, and that’s when I met Verena (Skills Connector) and she was brilliant. When I was feeling alone and didn’t know what I wanted to do, I lost my confidence and she was a really good motivator. She started by helping my CV out and then guided me into what I wanted to do.”

Norfolk Community College and Voluntary Norfolk thank everyone who attended on the day and look forward to hosting another exciting peer session for future members.
